Located in the Malta Valley, part of the Hohe Tauern National Park, in the sunny southern province of Carinthia, our hotel provides excellent accommodation and service to visitors of this less well-known part of Austria.
Our friendly, family-run hotel sits on a quiet street in the heart of the village of Malta.
Known as “The Valley of the Tumbling Waters“, our location, Maltatal, is said to be one of the most beautiful areas in Austria, with its winding river, at least 16 waterfalls and a backdrop of majestic mountains. The pretty village of Malta nestles peacefully at the lower end of the valley, just 5kms from the historic town of Gmünd – the “Artists’ Town “, within easy reach of all the pleasures that this “sunny south of Austria” has to offer.
Located in a popular region of Austria throughout the summer and winter seasons, Gasthof Hochalmspitze aims to provide comfortable accommodation, good food and a welcoming atmosphere that matches our stunning surroundings.
Rooms are reached by only a short staircase, so although not yet able to cater of wheelchair using guests, the hotel can accommodate those with lesser mobility problems.
Our 2 family bedrooms, 2 single bedrooms and 11 double bedrooms are all en-suite and spacious and are over two floors. Many look out over our quiet garden, lovely valley and towards the mountain which gives the hotel its name.
Our breakfast buffet includes a wide selection of fresh local foodstuffs, cereals, juices, meats and cheese, bread and rolls, fruit and yoghurt, plus unlimited tea or coffee.
The evening menu offers great Austrian specialities, and international dishes, all using the freshest local produce. Vegetarians are well catered for and we are more than happy to respond to requests from guests with other dietary needs.
